TENANT ADVISORY – NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

TENANT UPDATE – NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Recently we have learned that Canada is experiencing a second wave of COVID-19.

Today, the Ontario government released updated COVID-19 modelling, which shows the province is experiencing a second surge in cases similar to what other jurisdictions have experienced.  The province is providing the public with full transparency about the consequences if Ontarians are not vigilant in adhering to public health measures.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health says Ontarians must be vigilant in adhering to public health measures to reduce the number of new cases and the spread of the virus.

With this new information, we continue to urge our tenants to continue to take all added precautions in relation to COVID-19.

To reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, it is critical that all Ontarians continue to follow everyday steps to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission:

  • Staying home when ill or keeping your child home from school when ill, even with mild symptoms;
  • Maintain physical distance by keeping at least two metres from others outside your social circle;
  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available; and
  • Wear a face covering when physical distancing is a challenge or where it is mandatory to do so.

Testing is available to those within provincial testing guidance at any of the province's assessment centres and participating pharmacies. To find your closest assessment centre or pharmacy, please visit ontario.ca/covidtest.

For additional protection, the Ontario government is encouraging everyone to download the new COVID Alert app on their smart phone from the Apple and Google Play app stores.

In addition to the above advice, we continue to ask tenants to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions.  As a reminder, we ask tenants to take these additional precautions:

  • Wear a mask when in the common areas of the building (corridors, elevators, laundry room, stairwells, etc.);
  • Limit visitors and deliveries where possible.  Have deliveries left in the front entry area of the building and pick up your parcel as soon as you can;
  • Limit elevator use to one person at a time unless you live in the same apartment;
  • Use a buddy system where necessary to assist in your errands;
  • Limit laundry room usage to 3 tenants to allow for physical distancing;
  • Make use of hand sanitizer stations located within the building;
  • Continue to communicate with building staff via telephone and email;
  • Make use of our online Maintenance Request form on our website;
  • Where possible make rent payments by cheque/money order dropped through the building office door.

For any tenants who have concerns about the payment of their rent, we urge you to contact us to discuss your intentions.  Again, we understand how stressful these times are and we again want to reassure you that we are here and willing to work with you regarding your rental payments.

We also wish to remind tenants that when using the laundry room that you should be in the laundry room to remove your laundry from the machines immediately upon completion of the cycle, as we have received several complaints that some tenants are delayed in emptying the machines.

Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have related to COVID-19 and our response.  Thank you once again for your continued co-operation in the fight against COVID-19.

Tenants are encouraged to monitor their health closely.  In the event that you or any of your family members fall ill with a fever, respiratory symptoms or believe you are sick, we advise that you should self-isolate, contact your primary healthcare provider and the Public Health Department, and advise Building Management via phone 416-923-1714 ext 27 or email - girwin@canahahns.com
