NOVEMBER TENANT UPDATE – NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

TENANT UPDATE – NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

As COVID-19 transmission continues to grow in our community, all levels of government continue to provide us with updates, new measures, and recommendations to protect our health and safety.  Currently, we are being told that the data suggests that the second wave is far from over.

All tenants are encouraged to continue their efforts of mask wearing, physical distancing, and handwashing to protect each other and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Late last week the provincial government moved Peel Region into the Red-Control stage and following that, the Region of Peel Medical Officer of Health outlined additional measures required to control the spread of COVID-19.  The full directive of enhanced public health measures in Peel Region is posted in the bulletin board in our lobby.

Of concern to our tenants, the following recommendations were made:

  • Residents must restrict their contact to members of their household and essential supports only.  Those that live alone may join one designated household.
  • Residents should not visit any other household or allow visitors to their homes or yards, except for emergency reasons, including medical and repairs, renovations or construction, deliveries and one-on-one tutoring.  Proper precautions must always be used in these situations, including mask wearing, distancing, hand hygiene, and isolating if sick.

In addition to the above recommendations, we continue to ask tenants to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions as follows:

  • Wear a mask when in the common areas of the building (corridors, elevators, laundry room, stairwells, etc.);
  • Do not have visitors to your apartment and do not visit with other tenants;
  • Have deliveries left in the front entry area of the building and pick up your parcel as soon as you can;
  • Limit elevator use to one person at a time unless you live in the same apartment;
  • Use a buddy system where necessary to assist in your errands;
  • Limit laundry room usage to 2 tenants to allow for physical distancing;
  • Make use of hand sanitizer stations located within the building;
  • Continue to communicate with building staff via telephone and email;
  • Make use of our online Maintenance Request form on our website;
  • Where possible make rent payments by cheque/money order dropped through the building office door.

Tenants are encouraged to monitor their health closely.  In the event that you or any of your family members fall ill with a fever, respiratory symptoms or believe you are sick, we advise that you should self-isolate, contact your primary healthcare provider and the Public Health Department, and advise Building Management via phone 416-923-1714 ext 27 or email - girwin@canahahns.com
